Jeanne Cooper

Chief Operating Officer

Jeanne Cooper

Jeanne Cooper serves as the Chief Operating Officer of the Foundation and is responsible for overall Foundation operations. 

Jeanne joined the Foundation in July 2008 as executive assistant to the Executive Director and became manager, executive office in May 2016.

Prior to joining AOTF, Jeanne was the director of chapter relations at a trade association and has worked with other associations and foundations in professional advancement, chapter relations, membership, and certification.

Jeanne majored in psychology at the George Washington University.

Satvika Garg, PhD, OTR/L

Chief Scientific Officer

Satvika Garg, PhD, OTR/L

Dr. Satvika Garg is the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) at the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF). Before joining the AOTF, she held positions as an occupational therapist and research collaborator at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and as an Adjunct Faculty Member at New York University (NYU), NY. Dr. Garg earned her PhD in Occupational Therapy (OT) from New York University and her MS in OT from Tufts University, MA. 

In her role as CSO, Dr. Garg leads the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the Foundation's scientific and research programs. She ensures the fiscal and programmatic accountability of these programs and serves on the Foundation's leadership team, advising the CEO. Additionally, Dr. Garg monitors the external environment to identify research priorities and opportunities that can build research capacity and advance the science of occupational therapy.

Lawrence Liff, MA

Chief Development Officer

Lawrence Liff, MA

Lawrence Liff joined the AOTF in October 2017 as Chief Development Officer. In this role, Lawrence promotes the philanthropic priorities of the Foundation, engages people, companies, and organizations that wish to support the AOTF mission, stewards donors, and manages the AOTF Development Council. 

Before coming to AOTF, Lawrence worked at the University of Maryland, College Park. From 2012 to 2017 he was the Director of Development at the College of Information Studies and from 2004 to 2012 he was the Associate Director of Development for the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences. 

Lawrence earned his BA in American History and Political Science in 2001 from the University of Maryland and earned his Master of Public Policy in 2010. 

David Robertson, MA

Student Activities Manager

David Robertson, MA

David Robertson joined the Foundation in July 2017 and in May 2019 he was promoted to Member and Program Coordinator as the national coordinator for the St. Catherine Challenge and Pi Theta Epsilon.

He joins the Foundation having previously worked in the educational sector as a program coordinator with Learn It Systems. Before that, he worked for several years as the Assistant Director, of Family Relations and Special Events at the Washington International School in D.C. 

David has a BS and Master's of Education from Springfield College where he was the grad assistant to the Sports Information Director before working in the sports industry.  David lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife, son, and Labrador, Luna. 

Madison Toomey

Communications Coordinator

Madison Toomey

Madison joined the American Occupational Therapy Foundation in the Summer of 2025. As the Communications Coordinator, Madison assists in developing engaging content and strategies to promote AOTF's core mission of advancing evidence-based occupational therapy research across all methods of communications.

Previously, Madison was the Communications Associate at the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, an international affairs advocacy nonprofit. There, she utilized social media and digital communications to amplify events, grow the organization's audience, and tell the story of why investing in diplomacy is critical to Americans. 

Madison graduated cum laude from the George Washington University in 2022 with a B.A. in International Affairs. Originally from Boston, Madison has been proud to call the DMV home for the past 7 years. In her free time, she enjoys fundraising and volunteering for causes she cares about, particularly suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
