Celebrating Collaborative Scholarly Excellence

The PTE Grant for Excellence in Interchapter Collaboration honors and recognizes Pi Theta Epsilon chapters that excel in creating meaningful partnerships with other chapters. This award celebrates collaborative efforts that support PTE’s mission and expand the impact of scholarly activities across multiple institutions.

This grant recognizes interchapter collaborations that:

  • Support and advance the Pi Theta Epsilon mission
  • Increase knowledge in occupational therapy
  • Develop professional skills among members
  • Contribute to the advancement of the OT profession
  • Foster connections between chapters and institutions

Collaboration Definition:
Activities organized and implemented by two or more Pi Theta Epsilon chapters working together toward a common scholarly goal.

Examples of Qualifying Collaborations:

  • Joint events or conferences
  • Collaborative workshops
  • Co-authored educational or scholarly papers
  • Virtual symposiums
  • Multi-chapter research initiatives
  • Regional or national networking events

Note: This list is not exhaustive—any collaborative scholarly activity that supports the PTE mission may qualify.

Chapter Participation:

  • Must involve two or more Pi Theta Epsilon chapters
  • All participating chapters should be listed on the application

Timeline:

  • Collaboration must have occurred between February 1 of the previous year and January 31 of the current year

Application Limit:

  • Applicants should submit one application detailing the collaboration

Submission Guidelines

Deadline: January 31 annually (midnight Eastern time)

Submission Method: Email to the PTE National Office at pte@aotf.org

Review Process: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with an annual review beginning January 31. The national PTE Executive Board evaluates all submissions.

3. Collaboration Description: Provide a detailed description of the collaborative activity, including the planning process, implementation, and participating chapters’ roles

4. Mission Alignment: Describe the relationship between the collaboration and the mission of Pi Theta Epsilon

5. Goals and Outcome: State the goal (s) and/or the outcome(s) of the collaboration as it relates to the stated goal or purpose

6. Impact Summary: Summarize the collaboration’s impact and participant response. Include both:

  • Qualitative examples (e.g., participant quotes, testimonials, reflections from chapter leaders)
  • Quantitative examples (e.g., survey responses, attendance numbers, pre/post assessments, engagement metrics)

Publication: A description of the winning collaborative activity will be published in the Scroll & Pen newsletter

Ceremony: The winning chapters will be recognized at the PTE Annual Business Meeting

Shared Achievement: All participating chapters receive recognition for their collaborative excellence

Tips for a Strong Application

Planning

  • Establish clear roles and responsibilities for each participating chapter
  • Create a shared timeline and communication plan
  • Identify common goals that align with PTE’s mission

Implementation

  • Document the collaboration process from planning through execution
  • Collect participant feedback during and after the event
  • Take photos and gather testimonials from all participating chapters

Application Preparation

  • Highlight what made the collaboration unique or particularly effective
  • Demonstrate measurable impact on participants and the profession
  • Showcase how working together enhanced the outcome compared to individual chapter efforts
