Eligibility and Scholarship Availability
Over 50 scholarships are available from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) and state occupational therapy associations during the academic year 2013-14. Applicants must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 1 year of occupational therapy specific coursework in an AOTA accredited or developing post-professional level program OR enrolled in an occupational therapy assistant program.

 
Contribute to a Scholarship

Applicants are considered for all scholarships for which they qualify, but may receive only one scholarship per year. This year, applications must be completed and submitted online by October 31, 2013 at 11:59 PM, Pacific Time.  References and Program Director statements will also be collected online.  References and Program Director Statements must be completed and submitted by December 11, 2013 at 11:59 PM, Pacific Time. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 2014.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST:

  1. Meet all eligibility requirements;
  2. For Post-baccalaureate scholarships, this must be the first degree in Occupational Therapy;
  3. Have a sustained record of outstanding scholastic achievement;
  4. Supply application data including:  (1) Two references and (2) Program Director's statement;
  5. Applicants for post-baccalaureate scholarships must be enrolled at the professional level (Master's or OTD) in an accredited or developing Occupational Therapy educational program and have completed 1 full year of Occupational Therapy coursework.

STATE ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE IN 2013-14

Arizona - The Adelaide Ryerson Smith Memorial  Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to an occupational therapy student at the post-baccalaureate degree level or occupational therapy assistant level.  Students must be enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy education program and must be residents of Arizona, attending any curriculum in the state of Arizona.  Must be a current member of the Arizona Occupational Therapy Association.  Scholarship amount TBD.

Arkansas - The Florence Wood Scholarship - One scholarship of $500 to an Arkansas resident enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program in Arkansas.   

District of Columbia - One scholarship awarded annually to a student currently enrolled in the occupational therapy education program at the Howard University and who resides in the Washington, DC metropolitan area (i.e., the District of Columbia, suburban Maryland, and Northern Virginia).   Scholarship amount TBD.
 
Florida - The Myra McDaniel Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to students in good standing attending an accredited occupational therapy educational program located in the state of Florida.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Kansas
- Scholarships awarded to occupational therapy student and one occupational therapy assistant student within the state of Kansas.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Louisiana
- The Todd Poche Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to occupational therapy students within the state of Louisiana.   Scholarship amount TBD.
 
Massachusetts - The Karen Jacobs Scholarship - One scholarship of $500 for a Massachusetts resident enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program in Massachusetts at the professional degree level. One scholarship of $250 for a Massachusetts resident enrolled in an accredited OTA program in Massachusetts. Applicants must be members of the Massachusetts Association for Occupational Therapy.
 
Michigan - The Fred Sammons and Barbara Rider Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to students enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program in the state of Michigan.  Preferences will be given for students who are residents of Michigan and who are members of the Michigan Occupational Therapy Association.

New Hampshire - The Mary Eileen Dixey Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to occupational therapy and occupational therapy assistant students in accredited occupational therapy education programs, attending a curriculum in New Hampshire and who are residents of New Hampshire.

New Mexico - The Julia D. Sweeney Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to an occupational therapy or occupational theray assistant  student within the state of New Mexico.   Scholarship amount TBD.

New York - Scholarships for occupational therapy students at professional master's degree level in New York state, who are residents of the state of New York and who are members of the New York State Occupational Therapy Association.   Scholarship amount TBD.

North Carolina - Scholarships awarded to occupational therapy students at the associate level and occupational therapy students at the professional level and who are members of the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Ohio - Three scholarships for Ohio residents. One scholarship for an Ohio resident enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program in Ohio at the professional degree level. One scholarship for an Ohio resident enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program in Ohio at the associate degree level. The Rosa Hartsook Endowed Scholarship - one scholarship for a resident enrolled in a graduate educational program in Ohio who is a registered occuptional therapist or a certified occupational therapy assistant who is doing graduate study in a field related to occupational therapy in an Ohio University.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Oklahoma - Scholarships awarded to one professional level student and technical level student within the state of Oklahoma.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Oregon - One scholarship for a professional level student who is a resident of Oregon and is attending Pacific University in Oregon.  Scholarship amount TBD.

South Carolina - The Chris Ebbers Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to one occupational therapy student and one occupational therapy assistant student within the state of South Carolina.  Scholarship amount TBD.

 
South Dakota - The Harlan and Rita Temple Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to a student or students in good standing enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program within the state of South Dakota.  Students earning professional level degrees or occupational therapy assistant degrees.  Preferences will be given for students who are residents of South Dakota and students who are members of the South Dakota Occupational Therapy Association.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Texas - Two scholarships to be awarded annually:  one at the post baccalaureate degree level and one at the associate degree level to Texas residents attending any curriculum in the state of Texas and members of the Texas Occupational Therapy Association.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Utah - Scholarships awarded to an occupational therapy professional level and to a COTA student who are residents of Utah and are current members of the Utah Occupational Therapy Association.   Scholarship amount TBD.
 
Virginia - The Fred Sammons Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to students enrolled in an accredited occupational therapy educational program within the state of Virginia.  Preferences will be given for students who are residents of Virginia and who are members of the Virginia Occupational Therapy Association.
 
Washington - Scholarships awarded to at least one occupational therapy student and one occupational therapy assistant student annually who are enrolled in entry level OT programs, are members of the Washington Occupational Therapy Association and are residents of Washington state.   Scholarship amount TBD.

West Virginia - The Charlotte Prudich, Elizabeth B. Devereaux, and Deborah Shamblin Endowed Scholarship - Scholarships awarded to OT, OTA, or MOT students who reside in West Virginia, attend a curriculum in the United States and are members of the West Virginia Occupational Therapy Association.   Scholarship amount TBD.

Wisconsin - Scholarships for occupational therapy students who are residents of the state of Wisconsin and are members of the Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Association or for research by members for the Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Association.   Scholarship amount TBD.
