Bethesda, MD - The Board of Directors of The American Occupational Therapy Foundation (AOTF) announced the election of new officers and directors at their meeting held November 6 - 8 in Washington, D.C.
Director Diana Ramsay of Baltimore, Maryland assumed office as President of the Foundation, Director Mary Foto of Montecito, California, was elected Secretary and Director Adam Drobot, of Piscataway, New Jersey, was elected Treasurer. Ramsay succeeds Ruth Ann Watkins, who served as president from 2003 and remains on the board.
The Board also announced the election of two new directors who also assumed their duties at the meeting. Mark Sullivan, Senior Vice President and Product Manager for Rehabilitation at Invacare, Corporation, Elyria, Ohio, was elected as Public Member, and Melissa L. Oliver, occupational therapist and Polytrauma Specialist at McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, was elected as a professional member.
Outgoing board members and former officers Nancy Talbot, of North Reading, Massachusetts, and William H. (Bill) Farland, PhD, of Fort Collins, Colorado were recognized by the board through unanimous resolutions commending their service.
"The board has been extremely fortunate to benefit from the wisdom and dedication of Bill Farland and Nancy Talbot during their many years of unselfish service," commented Ramsay, new AOTF president. "We also salute the tremendous leadership of Ruth Ann Watkins, and welcome our new board members, who will add wise perspectives to our deliberations."
The American Occupational Therapy Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable, scientific and educational organization established in 1965. Its mission is to advance research, education, and leadership in the field of occupational therapy and to raise public awareness of the importance of enabling individuals to participate fully in life regardless of their physical, social, mental, or developmental circumstances.
