The AOTF Strategic Plan, recently approved by the Board of Directors, is rooted in concepts of social justice and participation and documents AOTF's commitment to the professional community, the Foundation's donors, and consumers of occupational therapy. It sets forth five priorities, or Strategic ENDS, for the next three years which are derived from analyses of environmental trends and input from constituents, professional partners, and colleagues.
AOTF is committed to collaborating with its professional partners, AOTA and NBCOT, on issues of common concern that address future needs of the profession. AOTF will work assiduously within the parameters of its mission to affect change, and whenever possible, to add value to the enterprise of our partners.
UNDERSTANDING the PLAN
AOTF VISION for the PROFESSION - The AOTF Board adopted its vision for occupational therapy to guide the Foundation's investment of fiscal and human resources. This vision is shaped by three significant drivers that AOTF believes to be paramount to the future of the profession: The International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF); Social Justice; and Evidence as the basis for practice.
MISSION of AOTF - is derived from the Articles of Incorporation which require AOTF to advance research, higher education, and public education.
AOTF ENDS - are the strategic priorities the Board adopted as the focus of the Foundation over the next three years. In other words, ENDS are intermediate goals toward which progress may be made within a given period of time.
The Strategic Plan lays out ENDS for FY 2005-2008. Each of the upper tier of boxes -- Research, Education, Leadership, Recognition, and Finances -- contains a goal statement that addresses an important element of the AOTF vision and mission. In three areas, the Board added a second tier to channel the Foundation's efforts toward a specific focus. For example, under Leadership, the Board clarifies its commitment to focus first on faculty development.
Each END is equally important. A second tier box does not suggest greater importance; it simply provides greater focus. The ENDS are the template the staff used to develop the MEANS, or programs and projects, by which AOTF will accomplish its priorities.
AOTF MEANS - are the programs and projects that AOTF will undertake in the current fiscal year to address the Foundation's Strategic ENDS.
