That
the American Occupational Therapy Foundation is a charitable,
non-profit organization created in 1965 to advance the science
of occupational therapy and increase public understanding
of its value. AOTF gratefully acknowledges the support provided
by the American Occupational Therapy Association in helping
the profession build its capacity to engage in research that
guides practice.

Since 1980, AOTF and AOTA have jointly funded
research grants totaling nearly $4,000,000.
Three
Centers for Scholarship and Research in Occupational Therapy,
initially funded by AOTA and AOTF, now secure 3 to 5 million
dollars annually in competitive grant funding.
The
Center for Outcomes Research and Education (CORE), a jointly
funded initiative of AOTF and AOTA, is grooming 17 scholars
to conduct occupation-based outcomes research.
The
Wilma L. West Library resides in the Foundation and that AOTF
pays the salaries of three librarians and purchases the books
and journals for the collection.
The
Library staff is responsible for the content and technical
maintenance of OT SEARCH, which generated $50,000 in subscription
revenue for AOTA in 2000.
AOTF
publishes The Occupational Therapy Journal of Research (OTJR)
and after 21 years the journal will change its name in 2002
to OTJR: Occupation, Participation and Health.
The
Foundation offers over 70 scholarships each year through memorial
endowments and partnerships with state associations.
The
AOTF Research Colloquium is celebrating its 12th anniversary
at the AOTA Annual Conference in 2001.
And finally, the
late-breaking news,
AOTF
created the Institute for the Study of Occupation and Health
to support graduate education, develop and disseminate knowledge
about occupational therapy, and promote occupation as a force
in societal health. |
