Join us in honoring the memory of Gary W. Kielhofner with a contribution to the Gary W. Kielhofner Graduate Fellowship in Occupational Therapy.
Dr. Kielhofner, who died in September 2010 at the age of 61, was an internationally acclaimed scientist whose work was aimed at developing a model of human occupation for delivering occupational therapy services. Kielhofner was formerly Professor and Wade/Meyer Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy at The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) but remained on faculty there. During his lifetime he gave hundreds of invited lectures and published 19 books and over 150 scientific papers. His Center for Outcomes Research and Education at UIC was supported in part by a grant from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation.
The Gary W. Kielhofner Graduate Fellowship in Occupational Therapy was created to recognize his contributions to the field and his volunteerism over the years by awarding a $5,000 fellowship to any advanced graduate student enrolled at an accredited university. The AOTF seeks to raise $75,000 to endow this fund.
